Canadians miss Hulu

Anyone looking at YouTube as a model for video on the web needs to wake up. The ads they have on there now don’t convert well and Youtube is not profitable and never has been. They are working on new ideas. But could an ad infested YouTube keep its audience, incredible flow of user generated content? Perhaps it is destined to fail, like many other Let’s see how big we can get THEN figure out a way to make it viable websites before.

Hulu on the other hand offers licenced high quality video that is optimized with the most recent web video technology. It is very well designed, and it’s actually making money!

Hulu has one HUGE advantage over Youtube, it has the right to sell advertising in and around every single video on its site. It can package and sell any way that might make its customers happy. Youtube on the other hand, has that right for only the small percentage of the videos on its site that it has a licensing deal with. For probably 99pct or more of the videos on the site, Youtube isn’t supposed to know what they even are. - blogmaverick.com

Anyone can browse the Hulu website, but unfortunately most of us in Canada can’t view the shows on Hulu due to a regional blackout. To find similar content we have to settle for rogue video sites like…. Youtube?
